This role will appeal to applicants who may be looking for apprenticeship opportunities and who have the following types of skills or work experiences:
  • Millwright Helper
  • Welder Helper
  • Yard Worker
Located in Burnaby, British Columbia

What You Will Be Doing
  • Perform plant maintenance tasks throughout the facility including loading,
  • unloading, lifting, and moving materials in various forms of maintenance activities Including basic electrical, welding, metal fabrication, pneumatics, etc.
  • Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Complete basic duties inclusive of maintenance equipment operation to accomplish tasks required of projects
  • Utilize power tools, hand tools, forklifts, welding tools, cutting torches and various safety devices to complete work orders
  • Identify maintenance repair opportunities and safety concerns, work to eliminate/fix,
  • escalate to Plant Maintenance Supervisor if additional resources required
  • Complete required paperwork on time and correctly Other duties as assigned
Reality of the Job
  • Must be willing to work a Tuesday to Saturday shift, and at times work a 6 day work week with overtime hours when needed
What We Would Like From You
  • A get it done quickly and properly attitude with a strong commitment to safety, customer service and teamwork
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred Mechanical and Pneumatic skills
  • Forklift operation experience and/or ability to learn
  • Additional experiences that would be considered assets: Welding & Fabrication experience
  • Pumps & Blowers experience
  • Conveyor experience
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, comfortable working at high elevation and can problem solve by looking and listening
  • Ability to work as a team member and follow through with scheduled tasks and instructions
  • Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and troubleshoot repairs
  • Ability to reliably work the specified schedule, and/or a 6 day week from time-to-time
  • Ability to work from other BURNCO plants in the Lower Mainland on business needs
IMPORTANT: As this is a safety sensitive position, it is a condition of employment that candidates selected for hire must successfully pass pre-employment testing including a drug and alcohol screen (Cannabis included), and a Fitness to Work test.
