COMPENSATION SPECIALIST
Provide guidance and recommendations while supporting key functions within our Total Rewards team. This role supports remote, work from home arrangement.
Reporting to the Total Rewards Team Lead, you will work closely with our People & Culture teams and various departments to support Western’s compensation strategies.
Here is what a typical day looks like

  • Conduct analysis, interpretation and benchmarking related to the Western’s compensation programs
  • Contributes organizational data to, and analyzes results of, compensation surveys
  • Managing and executing cyclical compensation programs; Annual Merit, Incentive Plans, Total Compensation Statements, Year End Processes etc.
  • Conducts annual compensation surveys with external vendors as well as performing analytics and compilation of results
  • Researching, collecting and analyzing market data to assist in recommending, developing and enhancing compensation structure, policies and practices as well as ensuring internal equity is maintained
  • Conducting role and market evaluations and providing compensation recommendations of both existing and new roles ensuring accuracy of compensation structure and internal equity and to determine competitive positioning of the organizations pay programs
  • Preparing of detailed monthly and quarterly metrics reports as required for the business
  • Managing and administering key employer programs; RRSP and Employee Share Ownership Plan, Group Benefits
  • Managing and administering leave without pay programs including maternity, parental, medical, personal
  • Building, coordinating, and distributing compensation financial reports to support Corporate Finance annual year end reporting and budget preparation

The value you bring
  • 5+ years of experience as a Compensation Consultant
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to compensation programs
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or in progress
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret large amounts of information/data from multiple sources – must be at an expert level for MS Excel
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, ability to effectively collaborate with project leaders
