Competition: # 2874 Job Title: Compensation Analyst Department: Compensation & Benefits Status: Permanent Work Type: Full-time Affiliation: Non Union Shift Assignment: As assigned Bilingualism Required: No Police Check Requirement: N/A Site: Kirkwood Site Salary Information: $32.23 to $37.92 /hr Application Closing Date:April 5, 2023 KEY FUNCTION: Provide professional and analytical support to HSN\xe2\x80\x99s compensation systems (e.g. Union and Non-Union), legislative requirements, contractual obligations, and in support of HSN\xe2\x80\x99s strategic objectives. REPORTING: Under the general direction of the Compensation and Benefits Specialist. DUTIES:
  • Coordinate and maintain HSN\xe2\x80\x99s Job Evaluation (JE) Systems (e.g. Union and Non-Union) in support of HSN\xe2\x80\x99s Compensation Framework.
  • Evaluate jobs and ensure the integrity of the job evaluation systems are upheld.
  • Develop and maintain a JE order of proceedings; document evaluation rationales and communicate results.
  • Garner job content information in the Job Analysis process through the creation of s (JD) and completion of Job Questionnaires (JQ); liaise with management on the development or revision of job descriptions as required.
  • Participate on the Job Rating Committees for union and non-union Pay Equity plans in compliance with the Pay Equity Act; ensure the Pay Equity plans are maintained over time.
  • Maintain statistics on gender predominance for all HSN jobs.
  • Provide support for Pay Equity complaints and submissions to the Pay Equity Commission.
  • Research market trends, best practices, analyze compensation survey and internal HSN data; make recommendations to enhance HSN\xe2\x80\x99s compensation systems/processes as required.
  • Participate in annual and ad hoc salary/compensation surveys; develop quality external market surveys as required and liaise with other hospitals and local organizations to secure participation and ensure integrity of data received.
  • Review and provide compensation related information for Human Resources Request System (HRRS) tickets (e.g. job postings, new hires, adjustments), job requisitions, management employment contracts and termination letters to ensure adherence to compensation policies; follow up with stakeholders as required.
  • Provide guidance to management and staff on HSN\xe2\x80\x99s compensation policies and processes.
  • Verify and audit the integrity of system data to ensure accurate remuneration of employees in compliance with legislation, policies, procedures, and union contracts.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, managers, HR Business Partners, consultants, benefit carriers, and unions.
  • Draft and review policies, procedures, confidential reports, manuals, letters, standards, and standard of work visuals as required.
  • Create, run and provide reports to internal stakeholders as required.
  • Assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting and support of HSN\xe2\x80\x99s Human Capital Management System (HCMS) as required; create file uploads to support departmental and manager changes, general wage increases and benefit premium changes.
  • Assist in the development of a Compensation Guidebook.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Compensation and Benefits internal website.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance and technical advice to Compensation staff.
  • Determine and align improvement projects with HSN\xe2\x80\x99s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
  • Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
  • Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Minimum of a post graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management (HRM), Business Administration, or in a related field, from an accredited college.
  • Additional specialized training (e.g. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation) is preferred.
  • Ministry of Labour \xe2\x80\x9cWorker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps\xe2\x80\x9d training certificate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience working in a Human Resources (HR) department within a unionized environment, preferably in the public sector.
  • Experience working with SAP Success Factors is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Pay Equity Act and its regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Compensation Theory and contemporary strategies and alternatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and employment law.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and convert it into useful information for decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to research intricate compensation-related issues with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of group benefit contracts and programs.
  • Demonstrated superior attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritize as required.
  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
