What We are Looking For:
We are currently recruiting for a Community Youth Worker to join our Community Services team for a part-time position based out of the North Dumfries Community Health Centre. This role is responsible for for creating and running fun, engaging programs for youth that meet their needs and support their growth. They also build connections with families and community partners, support youth leadership, and help with day-to-day tasks to keep everything running smoothly
A successful candidate in this role would have
Diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Recreation, Child and Youth Work, or related field
Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
Skilled in group facilitation, youth leadership development, and working with older or high-risk youth (asset)
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to others and provide excellent customer service
Flexible, organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
Skilled in conflict resolution, problem-solving, time management, and issue management
Open, non-judgmental approach with a good understanding of local health and social service resources
Proficient with computers and various software applications
Class F license or willingness to obtain
Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
Must be available for 3-4 evenings per week and occasional weekend hours.
In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks
Plan, lead, and evaluate youth programs that reflect the needs of older youth and align with organizational goals
Deliver social and life skills programming in partnership with schools and community agencies
Set and maintain behavioral expectations, safety standards, and inclusive practices in programs and facility use
Engage with youth and families to provide information, referrals, and ongoing support
Collaborate with community partners to deliver special projects and services
Provide coverage for other programs and coordinate staff coverage as needed
Support youth in developing leadership skills and confidence
Mentor Peer Workers and provide training opportunities for youth volunteers and Leaders-in-Training (LITs)
Promote and recognize youth volunteerism
Supervise, train, and support program volunteers and student placements
Raise awareness of youth programs and represent the organization in the community when needed
Contribute to event planning, fundraising, and community initiatives
Maintain accurate records and complete required reports, statistics, and documentation
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and general program support tasks as required

The successful candidate would be eligible for the following benefits:
Starting Salary of $$21.30-$23.12 Hourly
3 Weeks paid vacation, with an increase to 4 weeks after 1 year of employment (pro-rated to hours worked)
15 Sick/Personal Days per year (pro-rated to hours worked)
10 Professional Development days per year(pro-rated to hours worked)
Enrolment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
