Langs has grown to become a dynamic, respected multi-service organization that uses a community development approach to provide comprehensive health, social and recreational services that are responsive to the changing needs of our community.

What We are Looking For:



We are currently recruiting for a Community Worker to join our Community Services team for a part-time position based out of the North Dumfries Community Health Centre. This role is responsible for for planning, delivering, and evaluating health promotion programs for adults and older adults that reflect community needs and align with the organization's goals. They also engage in outreach, build partnerships, and support community-based initiatives in a rural setting.

A successful candidate in this role would have



Undergraduate degree or diploma in a health or social science discipline or combination of some post-secondary education and significant experience in health promotion and/or community development. 3-5 years' experience in human services in a community setting Experience in health promotion, community development and prevention programming with the adult/older adult population Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Safe Food Handling Certificate Valid drivers' license, reliable vehicle with valid insurance is a requirement and willingness to obtain F-Class license Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset

In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks



To design, implement and evaluate health promotion programs in accordance with the organization's overall goals and strategic plan in response to identified needs. Plans and implements adult and older adult programs, workshops, and outings. To monitor and analyze trends, demographics and other sources of internal and external information in relation to its impact on programming in rural communities. To establish and implement guidelines, safety standards and norms related to programming and the use of facilities. Conducts community outreach to residents to provide needed information, accesses appropriate resources and conducts follow up where required. Liaises with related community agencies/partners for the purpose of implementing special projects/decentralized services. Provides support to these projects. Other duties as assigned/required.

The successful candidate would be eligible for the following benefits:



Starting Salary of $22.18-$24.91 Hourly 3 Weeks paid vacation, with an increase to 4 weeks after 1 year of employment (pro-rated to hours worked) 15 Sick/Personal Days per year (pro-rated to hours worked) 10 Professional Development days per year(pro-rated to hours worked) Enrolment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) Comprehensive Extended Health and Dental Care Plan including a $1000 Healthcare Spending Account.
