The mission of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and the Family Resource Network (FRN) is to encourage, strengthen, and stabilize family and community life. Together, FCSS and the FRN provide a range of services and supports focused on strengthening knowledge, increasing social connection, improving access to community resources, building resiliency, and fostering well-being.

At its core, this role is about uplifting and empowering individuals, families, and communities. The Community Support Services Supervisor leads and develops community support teams and programs. This position identifies emerging social needs and implements compassionate, sustainable solutions that make a lasting difference in people's lives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead early intervention and essential needs programs, ensuring alignment with community priorities and funding requirements. Supervise, mentor, train, and support staff, volunteers, and practicum students. Promote a positive work environment and team collaboration. Ensure outreach, advocacy, referrals, and system navigation services are accessible to individuals and families. Conduct research on social trends and develop recommendations to address emerging needs. Strengthen partnerships with stakeholders to foster an integrated approach to community support. Monitor program effectiveness through evaluation, reporting, and data collection. Oversee essential needs programs, ensuring updated procedures and compliance with funder mandates. Represent FCSS and FRN on committees, supporting community initiatives and advocacy efforts.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or another social science or health-related discipline. Minimum of five years of experience in client support and social programming. At least three years of supervisory experience with a commitment to compassionate leadership. Proficiency in supporting both clients and staff working with complex cases, always leading with empathy and understanding. Program evaluation and financial management skills. Knowledge of the FCSS Act and Regulation outlined by the Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA) and the Well-Being and Resiliency Framework Experience in community development
