Wetaskiwin FCSS is seeking a
Community Resource Navigator
to join our team. This vital role supports individuals and families by providing information, referrals, and advocacy to access social, health, and community services. Please note that this is a full time, contract position until December 31, 2026 with the possibility of extension.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to vulnerable individuals seeking access to services that will increase their overall social well-being.
Undergo a formalized intake process to assess the individuals' needs, create a plan of action and follow through on progress;
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local, regional, provincial and federal programs, benefits and eligibility criteria.
Cultivate partnerships with local organizations and businesses to provide appropriate referrals;
Receive training when necessary to enhance programming and/or facilitate group sessions;
Attend collaborative meetings on behalf of FCSS that address community partner issues and referrals;
Assist with the planning and coordination of monthly interagency meetings to receive up-to-date service provider information;
Perform administrative duties as tasked by the Managing Director.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary education in a related field is required;
Minimum 2 years working in a related role is required;
Mental Health, De-escalation and Suicide Intervention related training is considered an asset;
Working with people of diverse economic, social, and ethnic backgrounds;
Understanding of person-centered and trauma informed care;
Working in a collaborative environment and ability to liaise with partnering service providers and community organizations;
Knowledge of local and regional community resources and service pathways.

Strong communications skills including listening, writing, and speaking skills;
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask;
Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure;
Non-judgemental attitude, empathy, and personal boundary skills are required;
Patience and flexibility in an ever-changing environment;
Comfortable with interactions with individuals presenting personal crisis, mental health concerns, and complex social issues.
