About the Opportunity Currently, V!VA Retirement Communities has a new opportunity for an enthusiastic Community Relations / Sales Manager to join our team in Carleton Place, ON. Reporting to the Community Director and working closely with Waterside’s Management Team and V!VA’s Home Office Team, you will be developing and executing strategic plans to maximize profitability and occupancy. You will also be facilitating tours, building relationships with prospects, and representing yourself as a V!VA ambassador throughout the greater community. Working as a positive, contributing member of the community, your key duties will include:
  • Engaging in the relationship-selling process with each prospect and their family, including setting appointments and conducting tours;
  • Developing and managing a network of local referral sources;
  • Coordinating all outreach events including trade shows, community seminars, sponsorship and other special events;
  • Constantly reviewing the database to identify and follow-up on leads from all sources, while creating sales strategies for prospective community members and families;
  • Practicing the established V!VA sales approach to track and follow-up with referrals;
  • Recording sales and updating list of prospects and community organizations, using V!VA's customer relations management software (Sherpa);
  • Managing a budget in accordance with the Community Outreach and Sales Plan;
  • Performing competitive analysis, including monitoring market competition and territory conditions;
  • Managing inventory and ordering promotional materials;
  • Contributing local insights for the strategic planning of all marketing and leasing initiatives;
  • Suggesting media and advertising opportunities;
  • Educating the general community about the services and value of V!VA Retirement Communities;
  • Establishing timely, open and effective communication to all families, community associates and members, and assuring that all expectations are met or exceeded;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of the annual marketing budget and management plan;
  • Maintaining V!VA’s high standard of excellent customer service and constructive relationship to the public, while achieving occupancy goals set for the community;
  • Assisting in the preservation of Waterside’s image, safety and cleanliness, for guests and prospective family and community members; and
  • Participating in all in-service training and education programs as scheduled.
To qualify for the role, you will need:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the retirement living or healthcare related industries. Candidates with a proven track record of achieving/exceeding targets e.g. increasing and maintaining target occupancy levels will be given preferential consideration;
  • At least 3 years of sales experience is required;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; and
  • Post-secondary education would be an asset, preferably in business related field.
You must also possess a clean Class G driver license and have access to a vehicle. The candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Office and must be flexible to work in changing shift hours e.g. some weekends and some evenings. As an enthusiastic leader, who promotes an optimistic atmosphere, you must have a developed interest in making a difference in the lives of seniors. Through your confidence and determination, you must also be able to prove your vital role in the Community Management Team. As the main point of contact for the community, your strong organization, efficient networking and excellent sales skills will be essential to this role.
