The Green Line LRT - SE Project is looking to recruit a Community Relations Strategist to join its Public Affairs team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and fostering relationships with entities and individuals along the project's alignment, delivering key project information, supporting ongoing and upcoming construction, and anticipating, mitigating, and resolving issues related to the work. Reporting to the Leader, Community and Business Relations, the Community Relations Strategist's primary duties will require the successful candidate to:

Be a trusted point of contact for entities and individuals along the alignment, building and maintaining strong, direct relationships throughout the project. Anticipate risks and identify opportunities related to the project. Host, present, and take records at virtual and in-person meetings, community meetings, information sessions, and public engagement events. Create and issue construction notices, detours, and information bulletins. Clearly communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Provide strategic advice and advocacy during construction planning and management. Author and issue weekly and monthly reports on Community and Business Relations activities. Attend regular program and construction meetings to learn the subject matter deeply and to advocate for the best outcomes for the project and those we impact.


Qualifications

A Degree in Community Development, Public Relations, Communications, Public Policy/Administration, Urban Studies/Planning, Public Engagement, Engineering, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience. At least 3 years experience working directly with members of the public, community or business engagement is required. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) is required for transportation to and from project sites. The ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex information about construction and technical activities. Strong political acumen, recognizing the many interested parties and risks related to the project and overall public perception. Well-developed facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills are critical to the success of this position.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $47.01 - $62.84 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.



Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
