The Community Health and Wellness Coordinator, under the Manager of Community Wellness, will support healthy living by fostering cultural identity, community connection, and belonging. Working alongside elders, youth, and community members--as well as the Stoney Trail Wellness Health Team, the coordinator will deliver educational programs, events, and supports focused on holistic health. They will also help develop wellness program processes and make key decisions to promote community healing and wellbeing.
Duties and Responsibilities
Engage with clients to assess their individual health needs (social determinants of health)
Work alongside the Eden Valley Cultural Liaison team to coordinate and support community healing, teaching, ceremony and celebration
Plan culturally relevant educational sessions and events for the community with a focus on health/ wellness initiatives.
Provide water testing support to ensure clean drinking water
Develop and distribute the monthly newsletter in English and source out Stoney translation
Encourage community partnerships through interagency subcommittee meetings and other relevant collaborations
Manage and monitor social media platforms
Lead / Coordinate / Implement and participate in the strategic, operational and financial planning of educational programming and community-based events
Monitor, analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of project activities through data collection, and narrative reporting.
Engage community for feedback and implement appropriate actions.
Support the health wellness team with any additional tasks that may require help.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
Degree in a Human Services field
OR
equivalent experience
An understanding of the cultural uniqueness within Treaty Seven Territory is an asset
Willing to learn Stoney Nakoda cultural and traditional values
Proficiency in the use of computers as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation and public speaking skills
Ability to lead, mentor and coordinate a team (Elders, Youth, Health Professional and Community Members)
Strong interpersonal skills, including good listening and coaching skills
Excellent project management skills
Must be friendly, courteous, assertive, objective and fair
