Summary
Join our team as we embark on exciting program enhancement projects thanks to an Ontario Trillium Grant! We are looking for a detail oriented and passionate individual to join our team! As Health & Wellness Coordinator, you know about seniors' fitness! You will be responsible for the day-to-day program operations of our seniors' exercise and falls prevention groups across the Etobicoke / West Toronto area. This role will focus on maintaining efficient program schedules with classes at full occupancy, to meet the goal of reducing the time clients are waiting for program admission.
Responsibilities
Plan, administer and coordinate the agency's exercise and fitness programs.
Act as main point of contact for exercise participants via phone and email, admitting clients to the appropriate program based on client need and interest.
Monitor and maintain exercise class registration and waitlists, ensuring classes maintain high occupancy.
Support and collaborate with Client Care Specialist to ensure client care plans are scheduled and up to date.
Access and maintain up-to-date and confidential client case records using Alayacare and other software, MS Word and Excel.
Ensure monthly attendance data is entered in a timely manner.
Provide exercise instructor coverage and lead seniors' exercise classes when required.
Provides coverage for other department staff as needed.
Performs other duties as required, including occasional after-hours work (on-call rotation weekend support).
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in health promotion, public health, therapeutic recreation, social work, or comparable combination of education and experience.
Minimum 2 years experience working with older adults.
Current Fitness Instructor certificate from Canfitpro or Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging, with older adult specialization, other related fitness certification (i.e. Yoga, Tai Chi, etc.) or willingness to obtain, is preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to speak language other than English, is an asset.
Proficiency in MS Office and Zoom platform.
Holds an active First Aid and CPR certificate.
A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
Must be able to travel weekly within Etobicoke. Valid Ontario Driver's License, a satisfactory driver abstract, and access to reliable vehicle is required.
Able to provide proof of full 2 dose COVID-19 vaccination upon hire.
