Collaborative Community Food Network (C2FN) Program Facilitator
Term position until March 31, 2026 with possibility of extension. Generous vacation & holiday package. Compensation begins at a rate of $20.78 per hour for 35 hours per week.
At Maggie's Place, we aim to provide a welcoming, inclusive space where children, youth, and families can connect, share, and grow together. Collaborative Food Networks (CFNs) have been piloted by the Nova Scotia Government in communities that have demonstrated a need for food security support. Join our team to engage in meaningful work that strengthens families and communities.
Program Planning: Support existing food support programming within Maggie's Place mandate. Help to develop, plan, and facilitate new programming encompassing nutrition, cooking, and food security geared toward children, youth, and adults in coordination with the C2FN coordinator and supervisor; Help to plan and prepare healthy snacks following dietary guidelines and food safety standards.
Family Engagement: Build trusting, respectful relationships with families; create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages parent participation.
Community Building: Support opportunities for families to connect with each other and with community resources; Connect people through food using innovative approaches to food security.
Team Collaboration: Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members, other teams within Maggie's Place, and community partner organizations to plan, promote, and evaluate high-quality programming aligned with centre values, goals, and best practices.
Experience facilitating for and an openness to working with children, parents/guardians, and youth in a community-based setting
Knowledge and understanding of the challenges, strengths, capacities, and barriers faced by those struggling with food insecurity, as well as the complex situations that folks in rural areas face
Willing to work flexible hours (occasional evenings, Saturdays)
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both with families and community partners
Valid First Aid/CPR & Food Handler courses (or willingness to obtain)
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with a $2 million insurance policy
