Job Description


Reporting to the Dept. Head of Continuing Studies, the Community Campus Adult Education Coordinator (CAEC) is responsible for coordinating programs, services and operations at the community campus level by providing andragogic and administrative leadership in the facilitation and delivery of: programming, student experience, stakeholder engagement, and other deliverables, in accordance with the Yukon University Act, regulations, policies and direction.

This position liaises extensively with representatives of the First Nation governance structure, Yukon, municipal, and Canada governmental representatives, local and regional employers, appropriate business and industrial associations, tertiary providers of educational and related services, other university personnel, and stakeholders. The CAEC also advises the Department Head, the Continuing studies Director, and other university staff about opportunities and challenges related to the implementation of the Community Plan, the institutional Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, and related directives. This position is headquartered in Carcross and primarily builds relationship with Carcross / Tagish First Nation (CTFN) and Carcross / Tagish First Nation Government

We are looking for applicants who enjoy working in a student-centered environment and being part of a dynamic, community-oriented team. Applicants should have experience working with diverse ages, groups, and backgrounds to accomplish cooperative community projects and goals. The position is responsible for developing relationships and supporting campus-based university operations through targeted outreach and increasing public awareness of the university\'s various programs, services, and initiatives. The CEAC will foster or grow connections within the local community to help campus-based university activities align with local priorities. This action will be accomplished through coordinating and ensuring delivery of substantive programming or other deliverables that meet the needs of the community and First Nation.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a related discipline (i.e., education, business administration, public administration, First Nation governance, Sciences, Arts, or other), combined with experience in coordinating programs and people in an environment that is supportive for First Nation and other learners, community development, entrepreneurship, adult education, and working collaboratively with a First Nation government. However, an individual who has close ties to community, has lived and demonstrable work experience (i.e. government, Chief and Council,FN development corporation or work that supports FN governance) that speaks to the aforementioned qualities will also be considered.

A First Aid certificate is to be completed, as is proof of a valid Yukon driver\'s license, within 6 months of hire
