GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Director Marketing and Communications, the Communications Specialist leads communications at CSP by developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies, ensuring there is a unified, consistent, and positive voice and message that builds CSP’s brand awareness. Working closely with the Marketing Manager, the Communication Specialist builds strong relationships with stakeholders to promote CSP and its mission. SPECIFIC DUTIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. Lead the creation and mobilization of internal and external corporate communication and marketing materials using a strategic mix of communications channels. 2. Oversee the creation and development of communication plans and campaigns. 3. Provide guidance for announcements and draft content for news items, announcements, press releases, blogs, social media, etc. 4. Develop relationships with members of the media and respond to requests for information. 5. Lead public relations efforts to build brand awareness and protect CSP’s reputation. 6. Provide guidance and support to ensure quality and effective internal communications. 7. Develop strategies for our communications and outreach efforts (i.e., thought leadership articles, organizing panels, proposal writing, presentations, and speechwriting for the CEO) 8. Seek, coordinate, and support engagement opportunities for our CEO and other senior leadership. 9. Write, proofread, and edit business content across different communication channels and teams. QUALIFICATIONS Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in communications or public relations, plus 4+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit, scholarly publisher, or a science-based organization would be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience writing and editing long- and short-form content across various platforms for a broad range of audiences (web content, presentations, blogs, social media, emails, etc.).
  • Experience and up-to-date knowledge in media relations, issues management, and communications industry best practices.
  • A keen interest in scientific research and open access publishing.
  • Bilingual in English and French would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, taking direction from others and providing guidance and expertise to numerous internal cross-functional groups and external stakeholders.
Job Type: Full-time Salary: $53,250.00-$66,560.00 per year Schedule:
