As the Canada Communications Supervisor (CS), you are a communications representative in the Canada district that aligns local country priorities with corporate and global strategies. The CS creates effective, measurable communication strategies and processes to support district priorities to engage customers, employees, and stakeholders. This position is integral to managing the company brand both inside and outside UPS, including working with corporate partners in PR to facilitate media inquiries for television, radio, print and web. You will own both internal employee and external project management, development, production, publishing, and distribution of communications across owned and earned channels. You will also have the opportunity to build communications plans and strategies. You are a self-motivated, proactive, and a global minded storyteller. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop written content for a variety of channels including social, digital, and print.
  • Develop external thought leadership that will be published on behalf of UPS Canada, conveying messaging in clear, crisp, concise, conversational, and scannable manner.
  • Develop internal communications materials including talking points, key messages, and other materials to ensure leaders and spokespeople speak with a consistent voice.
  • Work with country stakeholders (leadership and subject matter experts) to understand local needs and adapt district content for local and global audiences.
  • Demonstrate strong written and copyediting skills including writing media materials, customer stories, social media copy, briefings, talking points/key messages and thought leadership pieces.
  • Coordinate and execute on employee and external events (e.g., townhalls, staff meetings, announcements and launches).
  • Own pre-production and publishing of materials using internal and external communication tools.
  • Collaborates with peers throughout the network and Corporate Affairs team on the development and execution of integrated, larger scale communications projects and initiatives for employees and external stakeholders.
  • Provide ad hoc support for communications projects both internally and externally.
  • Strategize and develop employee communication campaigns, programs, and employee storytelling.
  • Create and deliver materials in a broad spectrum of media, including intranet, social, digital, video, audio, written word, social media, electronic presentation, and live presentation.
  • Work with global team to create compelling stories and manage editorial calendar to ensure deadlines are met and pieces are published in a timely fashion.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 professional experience in a PR and/or employee communications role with strong writing and editing skills.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or College Diploma in Communications, Public Relations or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with experience in PR, media relations and social media.
  • Experience writing for a diverse workforce and external audience.
  • Bi-lingual (English and French) is preferred.
  • Media relationships is an asset.
  • Preferred candidate has experience in both internal/employee and external (PR, social media etc.) communications role.
