This position assists in meeting the internal and external communication needs of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN). The ideal candidate will develop and implement communication strategies that educate the public and result in a positive image of First Nations in accordance with the Spirit and Intent of the Treaties and the FSINs Treaty agenda.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Writing
Assists in the development, writing and implementation of communication strategies, annual reports, Assembly/Portfolio reports, presentations, speeches, briefing notes for the Chief & Executive, articles, media releases, FSIN advertising copy, and brochures.
Assists Secretariat staff in the development and writing of each of the Secretariats communications, media, and public education needs.
Website and Social Media Management
Provide updates and information to FSIN websites and social media accounts.
Assists and works regularly with FSIN IT staff to ensure FSIN communications materials are made available promptly on the FSIN website and social media accounts. Regular updates of press materials, communiques and other necessary information.
Daily monitoring of FSIN social media accounts, ensuring the most accurate and up-to-date information is available and easily accessible to our member First Nations and the public. Regular and daily social media page management.
Media Relations and Special Event Coordinating
Assist in the development, writing and distribution of media releases, backgrounders, and media advisories.
Assist Executive Director of Communications in the coordination of media, media interviews and press/news conferences.
