Position: Communications Officer, Programs & Policy

Reports to: Director, Development Programs, Programs & Policy

If you thrive on doing amazing, purposeful work that makes a real and lasting difference in the lives of the world's most vulnerable girls and boys, then you could be the perfect fit to join our collaborative Programs & Policy team. In this role, you'll help shape how Canadians view World Vision Canada's programming around the world and use your communications expertise to drive an overall communications plan for P&P that includes content creation, development of key supporting documents such as FAQs and briefing notes, and approaches that will raise our technical brand awareness across multiple stakeholders.

This is a cross-functional role that includes identifying opportunities to share our work and impact in humanitarian aid, development and advocacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to integrated communications and content strategy development, and drive engagement with real, raw, impact-driven and inspirational content from our programming portfolio.
  • Provide strategic counsel and best practice guidance regarding content to your colleagues as well as senior leaders within Programs & Policy, as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive communications plan for Programs & Policy on an annual basis.
  • Support Strategic Communications on blogs, social media content and media relations with opportunities such as grant impact and human interest stories.
  • Collaborate closely with Public Engagement on anchor grants that require support.
  • Curate images and assign guest bloggers.
  • Consistently monitor and improve owned content based on metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Oversee monthly reporting on P&P communications plan.
  • Monitor and measure the success of owned content against objectives and benchmarks.
Qualifications required:
  • Degree in Public Relations, Strategic Communications, Journalism, Marketing Communications or relevant field.
  • Exceptional writing skills, including proficiency in CP Style.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal communication, relationship building and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management, goal setting and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of international development, Canadian non-profit and fundraising sector a plus.
  • Knowledge of Agile terms and methods a plus.
