CITY OF DIEPPE Communications Department Communications Officer SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Communications, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, organization, execution, monitoring and management of internal and external communications. He or she is also responsible for promoting key services, programs, regulations and activities among residents and must demonstrate expertise and creativity in developing ideas and concepts for promotional and corporate tools and overseeing files and/or special projects related to communications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Communications Department in implementing its communications and visibility activities
Participate in the organization and development of communications strategies, manage the communications plans for municipal departments and deploy the appropriate tools to achieve the set objectives
Research, prepare, produce, design, write, revise and edit documents and publications related to municipal communications and visibility (public service announcements, emergency procedures, speeches, press releases, brochures, pamphlets, guides, visual documents, etc.)
Perform short translations on a regular basis to meet urgent needs
Analyze information quickly, generate key messages and assist with communications in emergency and crisis situations
Participate in the production of various communications tools and articles for community events and activities and establish timelines for the completion of projects
Assist with the logistics and execution of protocol and public relations events
Prepare information packages and kits for community groups and the public
Disseminate administrative and other messages of interest to staff through the City\'s intranet site
Respond to inquiries and complaints from residents and other parties
Recommend new tools, procedures and methods to ensure effective communication with various audiences
Keep abreast of new trends in communications and keep track of all municipal activities and issues related to files under his/her responsibility
Perform any other functions not mentioned above that are required to assist in the completion of projects and the smooth running of operations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education
Bachelor\'s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or a related field, or any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent
Experience
Five (5) years of experience in communications or public relations
Knowledge of the municipal environment (asset)
Experience in economic development and/or public participation (asset)
Knowledge
Fluency in spoken and written French and English
Excellent knowledge of communications and public relations
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Extensive knowledge of computer-based and multimedia communications, as well as social media
Skills
Excellent writing skills, solid command of French and English grammar, ability to translate from French to English and vice versa
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to plan, prioritize, analyze logically, problem-solve and make sound decisions
Thoroughness, initiative, creativity, discretion and diplomacy
Ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage several files and projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

WORK SCHEDULE
Thirty-five (35) hours a week
Evenings and weekends on occasion
