Job Details

Position Title: SWEL Communications Coordinator

Status: Regular Part Time

Hours: 24hrs/wk

Faculty/Department: Student Wellness and Equitable Learning, SSE

Campus/Location: North Campus

Salary: (Min) $24.14 (Max) $37.14

What you will do:

  • Develop comprehensive communications plans to achieve strategic goals, execute tactics, and evaluate success. This may include, producing and/or coordinating web content, social, and digital content, sourcing or coordinating photography, or leading small-scale video creation, or print pieces and working with SSE Operations and Strategic Initiatives or Communications as needed.
  • Oversee, execute and incorporate the creation of compelling and strategic marketing material, and communications plans ensuring they flow, follow best practices, and build on current assets where possible.
  • Apply evaluation strategies to assess the reach and effectiveness of communication initiatives. This may include utilizing analytics, user experience testing, surveys, and/or focus groups.
  • Define key performance indicators for each communication campaign, specifically for communication channels associated with that campaign
  • Streamline and create efficiencies in existing communication channels
  • Proactive issues management with the ability to foresee communication crisis and plan responses.
  • Create crisp, compelling copy for multiple audiences using different platforms- with a specific focus on digial platforms.
  • Consult and coordinate with a broad range of stakeholders across the College, including the SWEL leadership team, to lead the creation and integration of key messages that meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with the SWEL leadership team to co-develop communication campaigns associated with assigned projects, initiatives, and operations as well as coordinate contributions to the development and implementation of portfolio annual reporting and communication cycles.
  • Understand and adhere to the College style and branding guidelines, ensuring the positive reputation of the College in all forms of communication, i.e. digital or copy. .
  • Maintain a clear understanding of student audience and preferred technologies and communications platforms \xe2\x80\x93 translating this understanding into tactics for enhancing just-in-time message delivery.
  • Keep abreast of College services and programs that enable seamless communication pathways for key stakeholder groups (e.g., faculty/instructors, service providers, and partners).
  • Interview stakeholder groups, project leads, and students to assist in coordinating all aspects of communication and engagement plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What you bring to the role

Education
  • Required: Masters in communications or a related field is preferred
Experience
  • Required: 1 years prior experience working in a marketing or communications role, preferably in an academic environment
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in strategic communications planning, creative project management, or marketing in a non-for-profit role, preferably in an educational or health setting.
Skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills to create communication materials in all formats.
  • Proven ability, experience, and working knowledge and understanding of integrated communications plans within a highly complex institution, in an academic environment.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage own time, coordinate intra-department responses ahead of deadlines and timely meet deadlines
  • Ability to write dynamic, creative copy with a marketing flavor for different audiences is essential
  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes \xe2\x80\x93 working with multiple stakeholders to coordinate successful projects
  • Expert eye for grammar and language usage along with well-developed proofreading abilities
  • Experience writing for multiple audiences, with specific experience writing for students on different platforms (including translating to video and virtual content)
  • Strong working understanding of social media, digital communications, and websites; interest in emerging trends and technologies, as well as student-preferred communication platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills, easily able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and negotiate changes in priorities
  • Work independently and manage own time well and work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Intermediate skills in Office 365, desktop publishing software, and content management systems
