Canadian Cattle Identification Agency (CCIA) is an industry-initiated and led, not-for-profit organization incorporated to establish a national livestock identification program that supports efficient traceback and containment of serious animal health and food safety concerns in the Canadian livestock industry. The Role
Under the direction of the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating internal and external communications material, in alignment with the corporate communications strategy.
Job Functions
Write diverse content to support communications and marketing efforts including editorials, newsletters, website copy, blog posts, social media posts, brochures, reports, and press releases.
Support and monitor social media channels; create content including copy, photos, graphics, and video
Ensure all communications align with brand and key messaging to support the corporate communications strategy
Organize and maintain departmental files and records
Proofread, edit, and format materials and presentations according to Canadian Press style and CCIA brand standards
Monitor analytics and create reports highlighting campaign outcomes and engagement
Use WordPress to update CCIA's website content
Conduct ongoing market research and engagement including developing surveys and coordinating focus groups.
Conduct database, literature, and web searches to locate documents and articles that can be used for reference in marketing and educational materials.
Stay current on communications and marketing trends and provide recommendations for future campaigns
Perform other duties as required
What We're Looking For
Post-secondary degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing
One to three years' experience in communications or a related role
Background knowledge of the livestock agricultural industry is considered a strong asset.
Experience using Canva, Hootsuite, Mail Chimp, WordPress, Snagit, and Microsoft Office 365 (Adobe software - Creative Suit is considered an asset).
Bilingualism (French) focused on English is considered an asset.
Competencies
Excellent writing and storytelling skills to educate, engage, and captivate a target audience.
Self-starter who can quickly grasp business concepts and translate them into easy-to-understand communication and educational materials.
Familiar with the latest digital tools and platforms used for communication, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills, effective collaborator, good at building relationships and trust.
Highest standard for personal ethics and integrity actively using open and honest communication.
Exceptional attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and meet high-pressure deadlines.
Photography and video editing skills are considered an asset.
Additional Requirements
Ability to obtain a government security clearance
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle recommended
Work Environment
Full-time, in-office sedentary work environment.
Hybrid work is dependent on manager approval after a three-month probationary period.
