Job Description


BGC Weston Mount Dennis and Lawrence Heights Club is seeking a passionate, dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team to oversee the operations as a Communications Assistant for our summer camps in the Weston Mount Dennis and Lawrence Heights Community.
Communications Assistant description: Under the direction of the Community Director and the Social Media and Office Administrator, the Communications Assistant will be responsible for developing, and implementing a social media strategy to increase our brand image on various social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok).
The Communications Assistant will also be responsible for supporting managerial initiatives and recording as a part of a team, which may involve a wide variety of administrative functions, including photocopying, transcribing, phone calling, research and reception back up. Other task and duties will be provided as needed.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Writing: Research and develop relevant content for various platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok
  • PR/Media Communication: Lead communication and outreach efforts with media members to develop news coverage opportunities
  • Email Marketing: Develop content for email campaigns
  • Social Media Management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
  • Creation of an online social media calendar
  • Ensure frequent postings, higher engagement, and increased awareness
  • Create social posts to leverage and generate leads. Key Influencer Outreach. Manage giveaway campaigns
  • Respond to messages and leads which come through social media platforms
  • Onsite social media presence 2 \xe2\x80\x93 3 times per week, or as needed
  • Monitor social media accounts for comments and reviews; engage with users
  • Monthly reporting for each social media account
  • Prepares and distributes documents - minutes, memos, meeting schedules, letters
  • Monitors operation of office equipment and notifies appropriate resource as needed for repairs
  • Administrative support to management as directed
  • Takes messages and deals with situations appropriately, contacting resources
  • Generates monthly reports as required
  • Responds to inquiries within knowledge base
  • Provides reception and phone coverage on a scheduled coverage basis
  • Greets and addresses visitor inquiries in knowledgeable and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Educational background applicable to the position
  • Must meet all "Canada Summer Jobs" requirements including:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
    • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
      Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
    • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
      • International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
  • Experience in content creation for various social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
  • Access to equipment for photography/video creation (asset)
  • Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring)

Contract Period: June 26, 2023 \xe2\x80\x93 August 18, 2023 *Must attend mandatory training from June 26 to June 30*
Hours: 30 - 35 per week Monday to Friday looking for individuals available 5 days a week
