As per the funding guidelines from the Canada Summer Jobs Program, this job opportunity is available to candidates who must be between 15 and 30 years of age inclusive at the start of employment. Priority will be given to candidates facing barriers to getting a first job, specifically: youth with disabilities, black and other racialized youth, Indigenous youth, and 2SLGBTQI+ youth.
Summer Term Position - 12 weeks - Start Date - As Soon As Possible
Pay:
$20.84/hour Hours: 35 hours/week (Monday to Friday) Locations: Tri-Cities or New Westminster
Kinsight is a Non-Profit Organization that operates in the Tri-Cities and New Westminster. From infants to seniors, we serve over 2,000 families with children, youth and adults each year. POSITION SUMMARY: Kinsight is seeking a Communications Assistant to support development and execution of our internal and external Communications Plan. The Communications Assistant will participate in communications planning strategy and event planning, support content creation and print and digital media management, and support the Kinsight Mission and Vision.
  • Contribute to ongoing content creation for Kinsight\xe2\x80\x99s website and intranet site
  • Support brand implementation, as defined by Kinsight\'s Brand Style Guide;
  • Curate Kinsight\xe2\x80\x99s collection of storytelling media (interviews, photos, and video) for publishing in print and digital formats;
  • Assist with designing, writing and editing Kinsight\xe2\x80\x99s e-bulletin and other publications such as brochures, invitations and flyers.
  • Photography \xe2\x80\x93 create a photo bank of Kinsight assets.
  • File management \xe2\x80\x93 create a repository of communications files/materials
  • Contribute to and post to social media channels, such as Facebook.
  • Assist with writing and editing articles
  • Assist with event planning and other promotional initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Certificate or post-secondary courses in Communications or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and social media skills, with a particular focus on plain language writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills, ability to undertake self-directed tasks while working in a team environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly with MS Office.
  • Experience with online publishing tools (Wordpress, Constant Contact, Social Media platforms).
  • Courses in graphic design an asset.
  • Experience with design and layout in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is an asset. Knowledge and/or experience of disability issues, community involvement, and/or non-profit organizations an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record check
