Job Summary The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) works in partnership with academic units, faculty members, and graduate students to enhance the practice and scholarship of learning and teaching at Dalhousie. Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Operations, the Communications and Event planning coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of all CLT hosted events.
Key Responsibilities
Plan implementation and follow-up activities for all CLT events (in-person and virtual), such as webinars, workshops, conferences etc.. Event and registration database setup, organization, management and troubleshooting. Management of resource and information desk for all CLT hosted events. Collect and maintain detailed registration and attendance information for all CLT hosted events and programs for evaluation, success, research or other purposes.
Coordinate and facilitate logistics including all components of event management to contractual commitments, analysis and follow-ups. This include managing, developing and monitoring the effective and efficient allocation of the budget for CLT conferences and special events.
Create and edit content for CLT’s website, serving as web editor, reviewing and publishing all website content and manage web-based functions, including social media, to support the Centre’s activities.
Create high-quality creative concepts that comply with Dalhousie branding standards. Produce newsletters, brochures, posters, display booths and other hardcopy communication pieces. Create and optimize graphics for use on web pages and HTML emails.
Administration of University-wide Teaching Awards, CLT Grants and CLT Programming.
Financial Administration including preparing HR and financial forms, and bi-weekly financial accounts reconciliation, and CLT administrative duties including coverage for CLT reception area, managing CLT space booking, and ordering office supplies and submitting facilities management requests
Note Hybrid role: The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Qualifications Business/Office Administration Program, with three to five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Demonstrated experience in designing both print and web-based materials and developing standard-compliant web pages, HTML emails, posters etc., is required. Experience in developing and implementing an interactive web presence and an overall communication strategies through content management systems is key. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills and high level organizational skills is required. and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment are essential. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and database systems required.
