COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR

Harris Centre (One-Year Contractual Position)

DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager of Public Policy and Communications, the successful candidate will develop communication plans, activities, and materials to promote and build awareness of Harris Centre initiatives that aim to connect Memorial University with communities throughout the province. Responsible for initiating communications plans and developing material for new province-wide and national initiatives, as well as creating new approaches for existing core programming, this position is an excellent opportunity to exercise a broad range of communications skills and techniques. Working on issues and topics of public interest, this position requires a perceptive, strategic thinker with excellent judgement. Creativity, adaptability, and innovation are also key \xe2\x80\x93 part of the fun of this position is being able to work on multiple projects in all aspects of communications, from writing web content to news releases, editing reports to designing social media, and everything in-between \xe2\x80\x93 it is fast-paced and hands-on.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in communications, journalism, or public relations, preferably in a professional, governmental, or educational environment; graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in public relations, communications, or marketing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Exceptional written communications skills and considerable knowledge of the latest methods and techniques used in communications and marketing is required. The ideal candidate will have the ability to set priorities, allocate resources, and to develop concepts, as well as experience in web design and social media as an integrated communications tool. Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe, etc.), as well as experience using audio/visual equipment is an asset.
SALARY
$55,297 - $77,412 per annum (Management and Professional) An upscale hiring step will apply to this position (Step 6) CLOSING DATE April 14, 2023
