Monday - Friday (8:30 am - 4:30 pm)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Grant-writing, Grant project management and Grant reporting



Writing grant proposals, including helping envision and design new projects. Preparing budgets. Requesting quotes. Giving site tours to potential contractors. Preparing supporting documents such as letters of support. Maintaining a grant calendar to stay on top of submission deadlines for upcoming grants, reporting deadlines, etc. Scheduling meetings with stakeholders (staff, board members, contractors, professional evaluators, etc.) to move projects forward. Managing invoices, making sure contractors get paid, and keeping the project within budget constraints. Planning events for training-related grants (booking venue, ordering catering, managing RSVPs, consulting with and booking training facilitators). Annual reporting to United Way and JHSC. Gathering data and statistics from projects or programs. Preparing written responses to reporting questions. Working with Accounting to gather and present financial reports and receipts. Creating visual presentations using graphs, photos, etc.

Fundraising



Exporting monthly data from CanadaHelps to Chronicle Donor Management software. Sending thank you notes via Chronicle. Writing and sending a year-end fundraising appeal. Helping design and implement project-specific fundraising campaigns using social media, newsletters, mailers, etc.

Social media management, Content management and Graphic Design



Preparing regular social media posts (designing graphics and writing caption text) and newsletters to promote programs, fundraising campaigns, agency activities, etc. Responding to comments and messages on social media platforms. Ensuring website content is up to date Ensuring messaging is consistent across brochures, info sheets, resource booklets, and the website Designing, writing and/or editing content for new brochures, resource guides, resource cards, event posters, annual report booklet, business cards and the JHSM Inside Scoop and webpages, etc.

Event planning



Planning annual general meeting (booking venue, ordering catering, creating RSVP form, managing dietary requirements according to RSVPs)

PREFERRED/ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Related education or equivalent combination of experience and education. Minimum of two years' experience working in the social services and/or not-for-profit sector. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in making public presentations. Knowledge of how to utilize websites and current social media platforms for organizational communication purposes. Experience with fundraising and event/conference planning. Strong problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completed (minimum) Grade 12 education or equivalent. Post-secondary education in communications and marketing OR, 3 years' experience working in a similar role. Experience in working with an agency that supports people who are in conflict with the law. Experience in grant writing and completing funding applications. Experience developing marketing campaigns and collateral. Experience with various social media platforms. Experience with event planning. Experience with graphic design.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
