Job Description


As a member of the Corporate Communications team, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies for Ledcor. This involves media relations, issues management, social media content development, digital media and other corporate materials including, but not limited to, corporate publications, advertisements and supporting events. The communications specialist will recommend strategic measures to enhance clarity and reach of relevant information and creates content to support business objectives and increase awareness of the organization\'s goals and initiatives. As the communications specialist you will carry out work in support of overall communication objectives, working closely with internal communications and creative services teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create strategic communication plans and content to support business objectives and increase awareness of the organization\'s goals and initiatives among a variety of stakeholders
  • Research, draft and finalize high quality and strategic corporate materials including briefing notes, web content, speeches, presentations, newsletters, promotional materials, media releases, Q&A documents, reports, and social media content
  • Work with other departments and subject matter experts to ensure information is up-to-date and presented in clear, relatable language
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of messaging in all communication materials
  • Provide recommendations on how to cross-promote content strategically (internal and external).
  • Support media relations activities and recommend proactive media strategies including suggested pitches for news stories to the media to profile specific initiatives and identifies opportunities for appropriate media coverage
  • Analyze information, data and statistics regarding media requests, coverage and interviews
  • Monitor and identify ongoing and emerging issues in the media and provide analysis and advice
  • Recommend and draft a variety of communication documents including media releases, media advisories, key messages, background materials, frequently asked questions, and speaking notes
  • Support corporate events and liaise with vendors
  • Ensure the day-to-day maintenance of web postings and tracking databases
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in communications, Marketing or Business Administration
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, developing and supporting external corporate communications or marketing
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with multiple stakeholders, a strong team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work to multiple deadlines.
  • Strong technical skills which includes working knowledge of tools such as MS Office, Google Analytics, Adobe CS InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat

  • This position is a hybrid role, working both remotely and attending the office.
