Position Overview
Reporting to the NC Programming Supervisor, the CNC Programmer/setup machinist is responsible to create the NC Programs for lathe machines and prepare the setup for the production run. To achieve that, the employee will need to interpret mechanical drawings, create new, improve and update NC programs using Mastercam, and support other programmers and CNC Machinists.
CNC programming / Setup machinist
Read/understand engineering drawings and GD&T.
Design complex CNC Lathe programs with optimal production efficiency levels including usage of sub-spindle and live tooling.
Incorporate the fixture design into the CNC program
Complete machine setup and validation for the production run
Source, request quotes, and order needed tools to manufacture required parts
Support the organization in the development of safe manufacturing processes
Setup all tools and fixture on the CNC lathe. Run first parts and make all necessary adjustment so operators can continue production without issue.
Administration and communication
Enter production times and quantities in ERP (JobBOSS) and stamp and fill out work order (traveler) once traveler steps are complete.
Lead all innovation efforts for set-up and run-time improvements, better quality and hence more competitive product manufacturing.
Ensure that the work order instructions can be applied to build the machining program and record changes made to the CNC programming in the setup folder.
Communicate job instructions to the machinist who complete production run.

Qualification Requirements
Completed training program in CNC Programing with Mastercam
Minimum 5 years of CNC Lathe Programing and set up experience
Ability to read mechanical drawings
Ability to create manufacturing drawing based on customer supplied model base definitions
Excellent organizational, coordination, communication and influencing skills
Innovative and open to change and improvements.
Capacity to communicate in French
Capacity to communicate in English (is an asset in order to read customer drawings.)
