We are looking for a Custom CNC Programmer, someone who can create new programs throughout the day, every day! As a custom manufacturing facility our products are as varied as our customers.
General Purpose:
The CNC Programmer is primarily responsible for the programming and efficient running of the CNC machines (DMG). They interpret technical drawings and instructions to complete projects accurately while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines. This individual will work closely with toolmakers and designers to ensure that materials are cut to required specifications.
This is an afternoon or weekend shift position.
Responsibilities
:
Machining & Tooling:
Read and interpret CAD drawings, verify GD&T and all information on the work order, set up the CNC machine using raw material, correct tools and specifications
Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
Safely operate machine shop equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot failures to improve efficiency
Collaboration & Communication:
Work with engineers and team leads to develop tooling, address production issues, and mentor apprentices and students
Materials & Process Knowledge:
Understand material properties for manufacturing and repair, with experience in gauge building, mould making, dies, jigs and fixtures, and automation
Workplace Standards:
Follow PPE requirements, complete mandatory training, maintain a clean work environment, and seek continuous improvement opportunities
Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks and responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
Industry Experience:
5+ years experience as a Custom CNC Programmer
Educational Experience:
High school diploma, trade school or apprenticeship
Technical Skills
: Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, measurement skills, and basic math; able to work with precision; ability to program in Cimatron is an asset
Manufacturing Knowledge
: Familiar with various manufacturing industries, their products, terminology, and processes
Specialized Knowledge
: Strong understanding of building gauges and fixtures within the manufacturing process
Physical attributes:
Manual dexterity, ability to lift at least 22kgs (50 lbs); standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying will be required
