Job Description

PURPOSE & SCOPE:
As a CNC Precision Tool Grinder, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:Setting up and operating equipment to perform complex machining operations to close tolerance customer specifications. Operating 5-axis CNC grinding machines to sharpen and recondition carbide end mills and drills. Performing frequent changeovers for small quantity custom orders.

All work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and comply with all Johnson Electric's Health & Safety policies, procedures and quality systems. Working knowledge with SPS, 5S and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Setup and operate CNC grinding machines with precision. Conduct frequent changeovers for custom orders. Utilize inspection skills to work to tight tolerances. Apply math and problem-solving skills, including basic trigonometry. Perform machine setups and adjustments. Enter programs into CNC machines and use measuring/testing equipment. Read and interpret blueprints for machining operations. Maintain and troubleshoot CNC grinding equipment (Walters, ANCA, Star, Schutte, Rollomatic). Operate CNC machines and run the CNC grinder Move completed products to the inspection area (light lifting required). Clean and organize the working area and tools. Perform simple inspections to ensure quality standards. Understand GD&T, engineering drawings, and use precision measuring instruments. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and skill in manual handling of machine parts. Maintain quality orientation and attention to detail. Foster positive working relationships with plant personnel. Adhere to safe work practices, including WHMIS requirements. Read and understand Production Sheets for accurate parts completion. Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEEducation and/or Experience:High School diploma or equivalent Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset, but not required

Qualifications:Able to use and accurately interpret designated measuring systems for parts inspection, according to process sheet requirements. Able to demonstrate thorough understanding of process sheets and is able to follow consistently. Understand and follow traceability procedures. Familiar with specific products and their process requirements. Demonstrate acceptable level of safety, attendance, quality and production Strong mathematical skills required with particular emphasis on accuracy Able to work well independently or in a team environment Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment while maintaining quality

Skills:Proficient in English (both spoken and written) Precision and attention to detail Strong problem-solving abilities Technical proficiency in CNC machine operation Ability to work independently and as a part of the team Excellent communication skills

Work Environment (including Physical Demands):Work indoors. Environment can be noisy with variable temperatures (i.e. extreme heat) Lifting is required. No more than 50lbs and assistance is available if needed Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights or continental Able to work overtime when required/requested Continual standing, walking, reaching and bending Work in a fast pace manufacturing environment
