We're looking for a

skilled and detail-oriented CNC Router Operator

to join our team and help power the engine behind our 55,000-square-foot facility on the south side of Edmonton.

. As a CNC Router Operator, you'll bring to life custom-carved wood signage, interpret intricate designs, and contribute to a variety of high-end and one-of-a-kind sign projects.

You'll work with premium materials, execute precision tool paths, and play a key role in producing the dimensional, carved, and textured signs we're known for.

Position Summary



The

CNC Router Operator

is responsible for operating, maintaining, and programming CNC machinery to produce high-quality carved wood signage. This role requires strong attention to detail, a working knowledge of design files and tooling, and the ability to consistently execute clean and precise cuts.

Key ResponsibilitiesCNC Operation & Programming



Set up, program, and operate CNC routers to cut and carve wood signage. Interpret shop drawings, design files (e.g., DXF, AI, or VCarve), and job specifications. Select and change tools and bits for various routing applications. Monitor machine performance to ensure accurate execution of files.

Material Preparation & Finishing



Prepare wood substrates including gluing, sanding, and clamping. Inspect and prep carved pieces for paint, staining, or assembly. Perform light sanding and cleanup of routed components for a refined finish.

Tool & Equipment Maintenance



Perform daily inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on CNC equipment. Maintain router bits and cutting tools in good working condition. Troubleshoot issues related to programming, cutting depth, and surface quality.

Workflow & Quality



Ensure all output meets dimensional, aesthetic, and structural standards. Communicate proactively with design, paint, and fabrication teams to align on project requirements. Maintain clear records of materials used and time per job for tracking purposes.

Health & Safety



Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate PPE. Maintain a clean and organized work area free from hazards. Participate in shop safety meetings and training as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications



2-4 years of experience operating CNC routers (wood preferred). Familiarity with VCarve, EnRoute, or other CAM software (experience with Vectric or similar is a bonus). Strong understanding of tool paths, feeds, speeds, and bit selection for wood materials. Experience working with dimensional signage or carved architectural elements is a strong asset. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and design files. Comfortable working in a collaborative, deadline-driven shop environment. Attention to detail and craftsmanship is critical. Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.

Working Conditions



Full-time, Monday to Friday (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM); occasional overtime. Indoor shop environment with exposure to sawdust, machinery, and typical fabrication noise. Opportunity to cross-train in other areas (painting, assembly, laser cutting, etc.)
