Job summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the market leader and technology forerunner in the Cloud business. As a member of the AWS Support team you will be at the forefront of this transformational technology assisting a global list of companies that are taking advantage of a growing set of services and features to run their mission-critical applications. You will work with leading companies in this space and directly with the engineering teams within Amazon developing these new capabilities.

The AWS Support team is seeking engineers that enjoy solving problems, working with customers, and that have backgrounds from a variety of different fields. If you have experience managing full application stacks from the system (Linux or Windows) up through a custom application, managing part of a network from layer 3 and higher, or web-related programming that includes the consumption of web services we'd like to talk with you!

WHY AWS SUPPORT?

A First and foremost, this is a customer support role - in the Cloud.
A On a typical day, a support engineer will be primarily responsible for solving customers' cases through customer contact channels (e.g., telephone, email and/or web/live chat).
A You will apply troubleshooting techniques to provide solutions for our customers by thoughtfully working with customers to dive deep into the root cause of an issue.
A An AWS support engineer may also develop and train, partner with development teams on complex issues or contact deflection initiatives, participate in new hiring, write tools/script to help the team, or work with leadership on process improvement and strategic initiatives.

A Support engineers interested in travel have presented training or participated in focused summits across our sites or at specific AWS events.
A As we operate on a follow-the-sun model, with Premium Support sites located globally, there is no after hours on-call or mandated overtime in this role.

Amazon is now offering flexibility to choose among 3 different working models, in-office, hybrid, and virtual.

  • In Office: Employees will be office based and be assigned a desk in Toronto office. Employees will be required to reside within a commutable distance of the office they are assigned to.
  • Hybrid: Employees will be required to reside within a commutable distance of the Toronto office they are assigned to but have the flexibility to regularly work from home as well as from the office. Employees on a Hybrid work pattern will be expected to attend their assigned office a minimum of one day per week. These employees will follow agile seating when in office.
  • Virtual Workers: Employees must be based in Canada and work will be aligned to an AWS office based on Eastern or Pacific time zone, and are not required to attend an office on a regular basis. If needed, virtual employees may go into an office for critical trainings, meetings and team building events. These employees will follow agile seating when in office.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

A Currently enrolled in or received a Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or related fields.
A Preferred Graduation range of March 2021-March 2022.
A Experience with at least one functional scripting language (e.g., Perl, Python, Ruby, shell scripting)
A Knowledge of system, network, and OS.
A Mandarin and English Fluency Required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Knowledge of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts.
A Familiarity with Database, Storage, & Big Data concepts.
A Experience with troubleshooting Networks (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related).
A Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
