Job Summary

The Team



Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) provides court-ordered mental health assessments and treatment for young people under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and other laws. This includes youth found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder. Services are offered through outpatient clinics and contracted providers across B.C., with an inpatient unit in Burnaby that also supports Youth Custody Services. Clinics are located in Burnaby, Langley, Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Prince George, Kamloops, and Kelowna, serving all major regions of the province. Support duties may vary by clinic.



The Role



The Office Coordinator plays a key administrative role within the Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) outpatient clinic in Burnaby, providing essential support to the clinic manager and multidisciplinary team. This position is ideal for an experienced stenographer with a proven ability to accurately and efficiently transcribe, word-process, and format a range of medical and legal documents. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and bring a high level of professionalism to their work. Experience in a human or social services setting--particularly working with vulnerable youth--is a strong asset.



Qualifications:



Education and Experience Requirements




Grade 12 graduation or equivalent (GED). Minimum (3) three years of recent (within the last 5 years) of experience providing administrative and financial support services to a group of staff in an office environment
Current certification of 50+ words per minute keyboarding speed.

Preference may be given to applicants with:




Experience word processing and formatting medical documentation with speed and accuracy. Experience word processing and formatting legal or court-related documents with speed and accuracy. Minimum (6) months experience providing reception services to vulnerable children, youth and families in a human or social services setting. Experience processing financial documents (e.g. checking invoices for accuracy, completing routine payment documents, liaising with others to resolve payment issues/problems/concerns). Diploma in business or office administration. Certificate in business or office administration. Applicants who self-identify as having an Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
