SUMMARY: As a member of the Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) and in collaboration with all components of the Youth Crisis Stabilization System (YCSS), the MCT Clinician provides crisis intervention services to clients, their families and caregivers in a professional manner. The MCT Clinician assesses, plans, and formulates recommendations toward the resolution of the crisis and its underlining or precipitating factors. This position works a varied schedule in order to facilitate service needs. Days, Evenings, Overnights, Weekends. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: of the MCT Clinician, but are not limited to:


  • Dispatch the Mobile Crisis Teams and supply them with accurate and relevant information regarding the call;
  • Initiate referrals to YES, HBCIS and /or BTT as appropriate;
  • Collect demographic data for statistical purposes;
  • Maintain a daily log of telephone calls and dispatch;
  • Develop a plan of intervention with the client and caregiver to resolve the crisis and minimize the risk to the parties involved;
  • Engage youths families in the treatment process, as needed;
  • Meet regularly with the YCSS Team for the purpose of collaboration and planning;
  • Act as a resource to the Mobile Crisis Team on an as-needed basis;
  • Implement existing treatment plans;
  • Assist the team in problem-solving to address youth and family issues;
  • Assume responsibility with regards to training new employees and provide feedback to supervisor on job performance for staff evaluations, as requested;
  • Cross-trained to facilitate Clinician duties managing the Crisis Lines;
  • Provide training to Practicum Students assigned to the YCSS department;
  • Duties as assigned by supervisor.
Inter-Agency Consultation
  • Provide triage and referral;
  • Provide consultation to collateral agencies such as Children’s Mental Health, Child and Family Services, schools, and probation
Crisis Intervention
  • Collaborate with the YCSS Team by providing input to the clinical aspects of case management which involve therapeutic issues, such as intake, treatment plans, discharge planning, support requests and contact with collaterals.
Continuity of Care
  • Work in consultation with other YCSS staff and external agencies, to ensure continuity and communication throughout YCSS;
  • Provide clear and concise written reports which detail the nature of the crisis, the result of assessments, the nature of the intervention and the plans for safety and follow-up for each community visit;
  • Extend consultation, whenever possible, by sharing YCSS resources and information with other The Link programs;
  • Attend The Link staff meetings and contribute to the overall functioning of The Link by assuming appropriate additional responsibilities as needed;
  • Represent the YCSS program both within and outside of The Link;
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of all clinical activities;
  • Maintain open communication within the agency and fulfill administrative duties as assigned;
  • Maintain clinical/professional development through reading, attending workshops and peer and clinical consultation on a regular basis;
  • Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Supervisor within the context of the Position Summary.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate should demonstrate the following;
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services or accreditation from a governing Human Services College (e.g. RSW), a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in a supervised clinical setting
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract (subject to approval)
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
  • Therapeutic Crisis Solutions (TCS), NCI Certificate (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training)
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset

In these cases, appropriate supporting documentation will be required.)** SALARY RANGE: Hourly wage rate $24.33- $34.15 - Dependent upon qualifications. HOURS OF WORK: 56 hours biweekly. Variety of hours and shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts and holidays.
