Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to join the team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC as a Utilization Clinician. Apply today to join our team!

As a Utilization Clinician with VCH you will:

  • Work collaboratively with staff and leadership and act as a resource to interdisciplinary staff to implement and sustain Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH’s) Integrated Care Planning / Discharge Planning Framework and methodologies.
  • Work in collaboration with staff and leadership to lead and identify site-specific and system barriers to patient flow and assists to strategize, develop, and implement solutions to alleviate these barriers.
  • In partnership with site leadership, be responsible for the site-specific Alternate Levels of Care (ALC) data reliability for on-going site-specific ALC classification and education and be involved in the development, integration, and spread of proven system efficiency innovations throughout the Health Services Delivery Area (HSDA).
  • Act as a resource to staff by consulting with direct care staff on professional practice issues in relation to interprofessional care planning, problem solving, and workflow.

Loan Forgiveness: Recent graduates in select in-demand occupations may be eligible to have their B.C. Student Loan and/or their Canada Student Loan forgiven by agreeing to work at publicly-funded facilities in underserved communities in B.C.

ABOUT SECHELT HOSPITAL


Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program – community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education & Experience
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Four (4) years’ recent, related experience in an acute/community care environment, including one (1) years’ experience in a leadership role, including experience working with patient flow and systems analysis, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Nursing theory and practice within patient/family centred model of care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the BCCNM standards of practice for registered nurses.
  • Broad knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice related to various patient population groups and demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to case management process.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical pathways, expected length of stays, resource utilization, and patient assessment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with individuals and teams in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis as it relates to utilization and benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, plan, develop, implement, organize, and problem solve.
  • Demonstrate ability to implement and troubleshoot systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated commitment to change and process management and client focused service delivery in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work independently and/or team environment.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and ability to operate in a dynamic workplace with changing priorities.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including related computer software programs (such as PARIS and/or Medworxx).
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
