Clinical Youth Outreach Worker

Job Description

Rapha is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of an Enhanced Youth Outreach Worker ("EYOW")/ Clinical Youth Outreach Worker. Working in the Windsor-Essex County area, the EYOW will engage and support marginalized Black youth with the supports and services they need in order to facilitate their connection and access to community resources and to empower them to make positive choices on issues affecting their lives.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Education and Experience:



oBachelor or Masters of Social Work, Education, Social Sciences or related field and relevant experience, Counselling Psychology or equivalent and/or eligible for certification / membership in a registered professional association for practitioners in clinical therapy. (Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered)

oDemonstrated ability delivering intensive, short-term counselling and support services to Black youth in crisis, helping them to address their specific challenges, and referring and supporting them to access required services;

oDemonstrated ability to support family members of Black youth, and refer them to required services;

oSkill in managing the case plans of multiple, high-risk Black youth clients and their families;

oSkill in establishing trusting relationships with Black youth;

oDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;

oDemonstrated ability to work co-operatively and negotiate effectively with a range of community groups and service providers across sectors;

oDemonstrated ability to organize and deliver youth-centric activities, events and learning opportunities independently and/or in collaboration with community partners;

oSecond language (French or other) an asset;

oAbility to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends as needed as determined by the co-manager;

oProficient in working with Microsoft Office Suite and client record software; and

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing;

Cultural Experience:



oStrong understanding of the specialized needs of Black youth who may be experiencing challenges related to anti-Black racism, such as mental health, addictions, trauma, relationship violence, human / sex trafficking and / or involvement in criminal activities;

oKnowledge of and sensitivity to the life experiences and diverse needs, identities and cultural backgrounds of Black youth in underserved communities;

oKnowledge of the community including knowledge and understanding of culture and local programs and services to refer Black youth, such as mental health and counselling supports;

oExperience working and engaging within the Black community, specifically Black youth and their families.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

Monday to Friday Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
