The

SickKids Centre for Global Child Health

provides a dedicated hub for global child health-focused activities and connects researchers and health-care professionals around the world. The Centre is dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in resource-poor environments through collaboration in ground-breaking research, sustainable capacity building through education, and the active communication of results through knowledge translation, networks and advocacy.

Position Description




Reporting to the Principal Investigator via the Senior Program Manager and project-specific coordinators, the successful candidates will provide research assistance on one or more projects focusing on maternal and child health and nutrition in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The Research Assistant chosen will join a large team of junior and senior researchers working in a collaborative team environment.

Here's What You'll Get to Do:



Participate in systematic reviews using standard methods: + Execute comprehensive search strategies on numerous platforms
+ Screen studies based on inclusion and exclusion criteria
+ Extract and organize study-related data
+ Assess the methodological quality of studies and grade the overall quality of the evidence
+ Conduct meta-analyses
+ Prepare narrative syntheses of the review findings
Map a range of relevant data sources available in the public domain Retrieve, clean and organize project data Conduct focused literature reviews on project sub-topics Generate text, tables and figures for inclusion in project reports and presentations Attend relevant meetings, research rounds, and workshops to increase knowledge and skills Assist with other research related activities, and protocol, report, and manuscript writing as needed

Here's What You'll Need:



Master's degree in epidemiology or public health Experience conducting literature/scoping/systematic reviews on health-related topics is required Excellent written and verbal communication skills A demonstrated aptitude for report, proposal, and presentation preparation Excellent knowledge of reference management software (EndNote, Mendeley, Reference Manager, etc.) Knowledge translation skills are an asset: Ability to contextualize data and interpret findings for different audiences Data visualization skills are an asset (e.g., evidence gap maps, infographics) Demonstrated ability to: + Work independently, with minimal supervision, and within a team
+ Be self-motivated and self-directed
+ Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills
+ Pay close attention to detail while maintaining view of the larger scope
Demonstrated interest in and/or work experience related to: + the health of children and adolescents
+ health research in low- and middle-income countries
+ Experience conducting research on any of the following topics is an asset: global child health/sexual and reproductive health/climate change/conflict and health
Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Employment Type

: Full-time (35 hours/week), temporary 6-month to 1-year contract with possibility of renewal
