Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityMandateThe OPOR Education Lead- Education Partners & Clinical Placement Planning, Education & Learning has a critical role in the success of this complex, multi-organizational clinical transformation initiative. Their provision of constructive, empowering education practices, knowledge and practice of adult learning pedagogy, clinical expertise and/or health education experience, educational planning, design and delivery, and education evaluation will ensure that students and faculty users of the new clinical information system will meet user competency targets and will be safe and efficient users of the system.The OPOR Education Lead- Education Partners & Clinical Placement Planning, Education & Learning will contribute to the planning and development of education and training resources required to support the process of student clinical placements across Nova Scotia. This will encompass oversight and management of the model to deliver training to all students and relevant faculty to ensure readiness to use the OPOR-CIS in the clinical environment. Communicating with the Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health Student Placement Coordinators as well as liaison with individual educational facilities to ensure alignment with existing training policies will be a core responsibility. Planning and leading the eventual transition of OPOR student and faculty training to the educational partners is the other major component of this role.About the Opportunity ContinuedResponsibilitiesThe OPOR Education Lead- Education Partners & Clinical Placement Planning, Education & Learning independently addresses issues and makes decisions of moderate complexity with little or no supervision and delivers clear communication and documentation of complex concepts and issues across the organizations. This includes:

  • Leading the analysis and incorporation of best practice related to adult learning standards and pedagogy into all educational artifacts for the OPOR Project
  • Setting competency targets by user group (students and faculty members) for all user groups in the OPOR Project
  • Clearly communicating across all target groups - NSH/IWK Student Service and educational programs that require students in clinical placements in Nova Scotia
  • Being organized, outcomes driven, preparing educational artifacts, evaluations, and decision documents for review by the Education & Learning team
  • Having the ability to understand and support system level impacts and decisions while narrowing focus to target the effective education of individual students and faculty that support students in clinical placements
About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Undergraduate degree in health related field. Consideration may be given to those with appropriate training and work experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a clinical environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the implementation of evidence-based practice in a clinical setting
  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical and policy change
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students in clinical placements - either directly participating in clinical placements or by coordinating clinical placements
  • Experience in or working with various educational institutions that offer healthcare curricula considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work with physicians/providers with a proven ability to manage conflict and lead people through change
  • Broad knowledge of the applicable standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners
  • Broad knowledge of clinical process, workflows, clinical services delivery and patient/client satisfaction determinants. Demonstrated clinical informatics expertise, with the ability to apply systems and critical thinking Experience in informatics, Electronic Medical Records, IT, or modern hospital HIS is preferred
About You Continued
  • Uses effective leadership, facilitation, communication and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus, resolve conflict, achieve desired outcomes and address potential barriers to success
  • Project Management and change management certification would be considered an asset
  • Experience services in a complex health care organizational environment considered an asset
  • Proficient knowledge of healthcare industry required; familiarity with clinical and administrative hospital functions and departments preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in working with patient care leaders
  • Ability to analyze highly complex systems and workflows
