Reporting to the Manager, Risk and Quality-Biomedical Engineering, the Clinical Engineer works within the context of the Biomedical Engineering department's directional plans, strategic imperatives and service agreements. Assists the Manager in providing technical support and direction to a team of Biomedical Engineers in the delivery of a broad range of regional activities including planning, strategies, standardization, implementation and delivery of safe, economical and efficient biomedical engineering (BME) services for Northern Health, to support excellence in patient/client/resident care. Assists with major projects, budget planning, strategic planning, resource planning and utilization, capital acquisition planning, standards and regulatory requirements, risk management, incident investigation, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.



Starting salary will be approximately from $88,990 to $111,237 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications




Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field, plus five (5) years' related engineering experience in a health care setting, including project management and supervision experience, or and equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License required. Eligibility to register with the EGBC (Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia) as P. Eng. (Professional Engineer) or EIT (Engineer in Training) is required. The successful applicant will be required to complete this registration within six months of the employment start date.

Demonstrated leadership and accountability skills. Demonstrated project management skills using engineering methodology. Demonstrated IT knowledge and skills. Ability to communicate both effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize and manage major concurrent projects with people from various disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience. Ability to research, report and teach technical information and skills. Defines own continuing education needs and maintains competency through reading literature, management workshops, seminars and available education offerings. Strong interpersonal and dispute-resolution skills to effectively deal with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external to the organization.
