The Manager of Clinical Engineering position is a key leadership role reporting to the Director of Clinical Engineering in the Edmonton Zone. This position is accountable for overall performance of healthcare technology management within their assigned portfolio. The candidate will align with zonal and provincial Clinical Engineering strategies and initiatives as well as industry standards and regulations governing the profession.
Description:
Operational Leadership: Adheres to corporate and departmental policy, procedures, and guidelines. Managing, coaching, and mentoring staff to foster a culture of engagement and participation. The candidate will also promote excellence, innovation, productivity, and team collaboration. Monitors asset Maintenance Management System compliance and KPI metrics. Strategic Planning and Improvement: Participates in strategic and operational plans to support patient focused care. Participates or leads regional initiatives, workgroups, and committees. Contributes to technology assessments to facilitate the acquisition of new equipment and long-term planning. Risk Management: Acts on safety alerts published from various agencies for medical equipment. Reports on device failure as per regulation and participates in incident investigations. Works to ensure high availability of clinical / medical devices. Promotes workplace inspections, hazard assessments, utilizing Reporting Learning System, and Just Culture. Resource Management: Manages an operating budget as established by the Director and AHS corporate. Allocates and adjusts resources in the delivery of Clinical Engineering services. Administrates human resource activity in a unionized environment. Manages the cost of operations and advances continuous quality improvement. Advances staff education and training opportunities. Pursues personal professional development.
