About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Planning, the Clinical Engineer has the responsibility for the provision of clinical/biomedical engineering expertise to support planning and clinical equipment procurement across the sub-projects of the larger Redevelopment project. The Clinical Engineer serves as consultant, interpreting the applied physics of technologies used as well as the technology/physiology interaction/implications for clinicians and general staff for optimization of technology use, health technology assessment, risk management, etc. The Clinical Engineer is specifically responsible to support planning and clinical equipment procurement for the various QEII Redevelopment Projects. The Clinical Engineer will provide related advice concerning biomedical preventive maintenance program(s); equipment/technology management and assessment; risk management; electrical and medical gas distribution with respect to clinical use; and other duties as required.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program, specializing in biomedical, electrical, or mechanical engineering (or a related engineering field)
• Registration with Engineers Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible to be registered with Engineers Nova Scotia required
• Four years' experience (or equivalent) in a clinical setting.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
• Master's degree in clinical engineering, biomedical instrumentation, or related fields is a key asset
• Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) designation is an asset
• Experience developing technical specifications is an asset.
• Excellent computer skills required, especially with computerized maintenance management systems, database applications, and quality assurance/risk management programs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of judgment and initiative required with strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting abilities
• Strong report writing skills
• Previous team leadership and project management experience would be an asset.

Hours

• Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
• Approximately December 2025 to December 2031

Compensation and Benefits
$42.94 - $53.67 Hourly
