Description





Under the general supervision of the VP - Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for the following:


Educational program development for: Nursing staff including RN's, RPN's, support staff including PSW's and/or applicable technicians Teaching and learning activities Patient education development Professional and self-development

Qualifications:




Experience




Must have a minimum of three years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred Previous experience with working with International Educated Nurses preferred



Education




Baccalaureate degree in nursing required Master's degree in nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered) Certificate or certification in a related specialty area preferred



Certification/Licensure/Registration




Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Active participation in professional associations preferred Current CPR (Targeted Responder) certification Required



Qualifications and Skills




Scope of practice as documents in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and independently Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development Initiates and supports change Demonstrated leadership ability Competency with word processing and presentation programs required Knowledge of First Nations culture an asset Knowledge of Internationally Educated Nurse licensing an asset Reliable attendance record
