Position Summary:

You are responsible for collaborating with stakeholders in the development and implementation of overall programming that supports the strategies of the MDE program and Bethany Care Society.

You will be accountable for co-coordinating the assessment, planning, design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of learning and development programs and policies of the MDE program. You will also be accountable for:

  • Advertising, promoting and communicating programs and services effectively.
  • Ensuring adherence to policies and procedures pertaining to the delivery of education and the development of programs and services for the MDE program.
  • Consulting with stakeholders to assess learning and development opportunities required to meet the business strategy and needs of the MDE program.
  • Ensuring all learning and development programs meet or exceed industry standards, legislation and collective agreement requirements.
  • Collaborating and participating in the scheduling of all learning and development programs for MDE and ensures that wherever possible, activities do not conflict with other MDE events and programs.
  • Ensuring implementation and delivery of learning and development programs and services in accordance with predetermined schedules and standards.
  • Evaluating programs and identifies opportunities for improvement.
The MDE unit is a specialized unit with professional expertise to assess and treat the most challenging and often puzzling behaviours associated with dementia\'s. Building on Bethany Care Society\'s mission, the MDE interdisciplinary team contributes to the development of a Collaborative Care Model through incorporating a variety of philosophies grounded in each of their core professional practice frameworks.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate, you:
  • Are a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Possess post graduate training in Adult Education or related plus three to five years of direct experience as an educator in a clinical environment (preferably with geriatric population). A combination of education and experience will also be considered. Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree is preferred. We will also consider applicants who are working towards the completion of his/her Master\'s degree.
  • Have a certificate in Gerontology preferred
  • Have three to five years nursing experience in the areas of gerontology and dementia.
  • Have a working knowledge of RAI/MDS 2.0 tool.
  • Obtained a CPR trainer certificate, and Supportive Pathways training preferred
  • Are proficient with current productivity software, such as Microsoft Office, Power point in particular.
