Job Description




The Case Management team guides clients through emergency situations or planned episodes of care by coordinating and managing access to eligible medical benefits for the lowest practical cost.

The Clinical Educator supports the recruitment, growth, and development of Case Managers in collaboration with Case Management Team Leadership.

What does your typical day look like?

  • Develop and maintain training resources;
  • Deliver instructor-led training for new hires in the Case Manager role;
  • Coordinate and oversee the nesting period of Case Managers, by providing ongoing training, consultation on medical decision making in daily case management, and feedback in the first 90 days;
  • Review and refine the new hire training as processes/workflows are updated;
  • Collaborate with Case Management Leadership Team to provide updates regarding new hire development and progress;
  • Apply clinical/medical knowledge to audit case management decision making and evaluate case outcomes;
  • Provide direct feedback to team members and provide feedback on Case Manager performance and development to Team Leaders;
  • Elicit team feedback on process gaps and improvements and collaborate with Case Management Leadership to implement change;
  • Develop, organize, and deliver off peak-season training to existing Case Manager group;
  • Support & assist with operational organization of front-line CM staff.
  • Review existing workflows for accuracy and areas of improvement;
  • Participate in leadership discussions about workflow refinement and improvement;
  • Collaborate and create new processes as needed;
  • Process analysis when onboarding new underwriters;
  • Develop and implement underwriter training in collaboration with Case Coordinator EDC team.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
  • University Degree or equivalency training in a medical or health-related field;
  • Current license in good standing with regulating professional body, if applicable;
  • 3-5 years of experience in Case Manager role preferred;
  • Understanding of international health care systems, travel insurance, insurance terminology and/or case management;
  • Able to coach and lead in a team environment;
  • Handle/communicate and exchange sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner;
  • Adapt to on-going change in a fast paced, customer focused environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate medical terms and concepts to diverse groups, including medical professionals and the general public;
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills;
  • Able to effectively analyze complex problems, determine and communicate action plans;
  • Work on call and shift work as needed. Flexibility with work hours will be required.
