Purpose of Job:
The Analyst, Client Finance supports the Manager, Client Finance in the overall financial management of assigned clients. This role works closely with Client Service Teams to oversee and control all financial aspects of client accounts, providing strong financial stewardship and support. The Analyst ensures budget control reports are accurate and delivered in accordance with client contracts, sets up retainers, fees, and out-of-scope jobs in MediaOcean, and collaborates with client leads, including attending client meetings as needed. This position reports directly to the Manager, Client Finance.
Duties:
Set up and maintain all product codes
Meet with account leads to review budget control reports
Lead the client billing process by preparing initial and final budget control reports, making billing recommendations, and meeting with the Client Service Team to finalize
Send billing instructions to Shared Finance Services
Distribute final client-facing budget control reports to clients
Review unbilled media and Work in Progress (WIP) reports at month-end, providing commentary and ensuring items are cleared in a timely manner
Conduct initial investigations into client receivables past due over 30 days and provide supporting documentation to the Operations Manager for client follow-up
Assist with client media audits as required
Attend client meetings as needed and build strong, open relationships with clients' Accounts Payable teams
Liaise with Shared Finance Services to ensure a high level of service for both the agency and clients
Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and audit policies and procedures
Prepare client year-end accruals
Prepare client reporting in accordance with client contracts
Key Requirements:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Solid understanding of accounting principles and variance analysis
Proactive, adaptable, and open to implementing new ideas and managing change
Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Excellent organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities
Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently
Education & Experience
College diploma in Business, Finance, or Accounting
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting role
Experience in the media and/or advertising industry is an asset
Advanced knowledge of DDS and Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), as well as PowerPoint and Visio
