About the Opportunity

The incumbent will perform clerical procedures related to chart processing control. Schedule will be mainly evening shifts with the possibility of some day shift and weekend shift coverage.

  • Process inpatient admissions, day surgery and outpatient records ensuring that charts are received in the department in an appropriate time
  • Maintain appropriate registers and distribute to appropriate agencies as required
  • Maintain chart control procedures to ensure accurate chart retrieval/maintenance
  • Maintain the accuracy of the Master Patient Index (MPI) in Meditech
  • Process all types of patient/client reports
  • Receive and process telephone inquiries
  • Provide assistance to physicians as required for chart completion
  • Prepare, scan and verify outpatient records to continuously create and support the Electronic Health Record (EChart)
  • Incumbent utilizes NShIS

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • One (1) year secretarial or business course required
  • Medical Terminology course required
  • Proficient keyboarding skills with demonstrated knowledge of Windows
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills - a high degree of tact, judgement and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently, assess situations and seek resolution if possible, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in an area with frequent interruptions
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including bending, carrying, walking, pushing
  • Good attendance and work record
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent, Part-time Position, 70%, 49 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Shifts can include days, evenings and weekends
Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 - $21.90 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
