About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Clerk I is responsible for the booking and scheduling of appointments for the Chronic Pain Management Clinic in a prompt and efficient manner. Reception duties also included are answering the phone, registration of patients and supporting the health care team with clerical responsibilities.

The Clerk I ensures that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health such as the mission, vision and values are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of Grade XII or equivalent
  • Graduate of a post-secondary secretarial or office administration program or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course
  • Minimum one (1) year previous experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications for Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Meditech, Access Repository, Share, CWS, PAR-NS, and ORM
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated excellence in prioritization skills with the ability to accomplish tasks within varying time limitations
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Must demonstrate a customer focused service which interacts with the public in person and on the telephone in a pleasant, courteous and efficient manner
  • Demonstrated ability to function well as a team member is required
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 - $21.90 Hourly
