About Our Opportunity

Reporting to a Senior Analyst on the Clean Transportation team in the Clean Energy Branch, the Clean Energy Coordinator will be part of a passionate and creative team that supports the provincial government\xe2\x80\x99s efforts to develop clean energy resources, reduce Nova Scotia\xe2\x80\x99s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, create jobs and transition to a net-zero economy.

Our work includes a focus on inclusive participation in low carbon solutions that increase equity and energy affordability for all Nova Scotians.

Our team works with a variety of clients and partners such as provincial departments, the federal government, municipalities, First Nation communities in Nova Scotia, African Nova Scotian communities, and non-profit organizations.

The Clean Energy Coordinator is part of the Clean Transportation team and is responsible for providing clean transportation policy analysis as well as coordinating and supporting clean energy funding programs that span all aspects of clean energy.

Primary Accountabilities

The primary focus of this position will be program development, delivery, administration, and evaluation of a clean energy funding programs as well as policy analysis and research on clean transportation initiatives. The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Program administration, program coordination, and database management
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in outreach, relationship building, community development and public engagement
  • Skills in research, analysis and reporting to support programs or policies
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
Daily work focuses on program delivery, communication with program participants, policy analysis and supporting Nova Scotia communities with project development including:
  • Work plan development and monitoring to support a provincial clean energy grant program.
  • Database management for contacts, program analysis and tracking
  • Communication with program participants
  • Contract and payment processing
  • Travel to communities for meetings and events to support clean energy project development and feasibility work
  • Clean transportation policy analysis, program development and program coordination
  • Jurisdictional scans and research to support advancing clean energy programs and policies.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field (such as Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Political Science, Urban Planning, Economics, Business, etc.) and 3 years of related experience; or a Master of Resource and Environmental Management degree, or similar, along with 1 year of related work experience. Related experience can include program development and administration related to clean energy, clean transportation, energy efficiency, renewable energy development, community grant funding or similar fields.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate knowledge of national and provincial energy policy context and the province\xe2\x80\x99s clean energy strategies and funding programs. You will have strong skills in program management and community development including program design and coordination, database and file management, grant management and community engagement.

In addition to the above you will:
  • Have excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and presentation;
  • Be able to engage effectively with senior decision makers;
  • Be able to work independently and perform research and analysis; and
  • Work well under pressure and provide fast turnaround when immediate results are required by senior decision makers.
Course work or experience in policy and program analysis and preparation of briefing materials is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day. May be required to work overtime on occasion.

Salary Range: $2,543.38 - $3,091.70 Bi-Weekly
