Hara & Company is seeking a Civil Litigator to join our dynamic litigation team in Burnaby, BC!

What You Can Expect



Manage a broad range of civil litigation files from intake to resolution, with autonomy and accountability, reporting directly to the Partner. Draft legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, and applications with precision and timeliness. Conduct examinations for discovery, prepare and attend applications, and independently handle trial work as opportunities arise. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, dedicating approximately 25% of your time to direct client interaction. Contribute to a fast-paced, results-driven environment where initiative, ownership, and strategic thinking are valued. Develop your own book of business over time with the encouragement and backing of the firm.

What You Bring to the Table



Possess 2 to 4 years of experience in civil litigation, including substantive involvement in trial proceedings. Demonstrated excellence in legal drafting, with superior written and oral communication skills. Proven capability to independently manage a personal caseload with efficiency and sound judgment. Exhibit exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a consistent record of meeting deadlines in demanding, high-pressure environments. Maintain a professional and composed demeanor, both within the courtroom and in professional settings. Approach legal challenges with a proactive, solution-focused mindset, underpinned by a strong work ethic and a commitment to achieving results. Thrive in collaborative team settings while remaining self-motivated, accountable, and capable of working autonomously.

About Us



Hara & Company is a family-run law firm with deep roots in the Vancouver community. The firm was established by Thomas Hara, QC, in 1962, being the first Japanese-Canadian to open a sole law practice in British Columbia.
