Role Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Foreman will be responsible for organizing, directing, completing, and reporting on crew activity daily. Based out of our construction sites in Charlottetown and the surrounding area, this role will oversee earth moving, site servicing, demolition, site grading, and various other tasks.

What You'll Do

Review the scope of work with the superintendent and execute key functions while also performing hands-on activities. Assist the superintendent and project management team in organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members and subcontractors. Effectively lead, mentor, and motivate the crew while demonstrating team values and a strong work ethic. Schedule equipment and manpower needs with the superintendent. Schedule materials with the project managers (PMs) and superintendent. Ensure all applicable environmental regulations are adhered to throughout the construction process. Attend project closeout meetings to ensure successful completion of the project. Document and communicate all pertinent project information, including site conditions, employee issues, and changes in the scope of work to the project team. Confirm that locates are completed. Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of yourself, your co-workers, and others on the work site. Report unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, and near misses to the superintendent and participate in the investigative process. Attend, lead, and participate in toolbox and safety meetings as required. Adhere to and support all safety requirements and quality standards set forth in the PEI Occupational Health and Safety General Regulations, PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Island Coastal's Safety Management System. Use your experience to identify health and safety deficiencies, aid in developing solutions, and enforce safe working practices. Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

3+ years of Foreman experience in a civil construction environment. Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and schedules. Strong technical computer capability using mobile devices. Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and commitment to quality work. Extensive knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation, and maintenance. Ability to handle a physically demanding role in various locations and climate extremes. Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Must be able to work as a member of a larger team. Valid driver's license.
