The Opportunity:

The City of Dauphin has an immediate opening in the Construction and Maintenance Division for the position of

Utility

Operator

. Reporting to the assigned Foreman or Chargehand, this in-scope position will be responsible for performing tasks on construction and maintenance projects including aligning, laying, and bedding of underground pipes; tapping water mains; assembling, installing, and repairing hydrants; leak detection, and performing maintenance on water, wastewater, and stormwater systems including assisting operation of Sewer Jet and Vacuum truck/trailer; supporting water and wastewater facility operations and maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

The Person:

The City of Dauphin is looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and enthusiastic individual who can perform the duties of this position with a high level of professionalism and efficiency. In accordance with City of Dauphin policies, all applicants shall possess a Grade 12 education and a valid Class 5 driver's license. A background in plumbing or mechanical would be preferred, plus Provincial Water & Wastewater Operator Certification in any of the following: Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, Water and Wastewater Treatment, or post-secondary education related to the Water and Wastewater industry would be considered an asset.

The Compensation:

The City of Dauphin offers a competitive wage and benefits package, as contained in its Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)- Local 857. The hourly wage is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Pay: $26.70-$37.73 per hour
